Web 2.0 Assessment

Web 2.0 Web 2.0 was founded in 1999 by Darcy DiNucci and was later made popular several years later by Tim O'Reilly. The idea of Web 2.0 was that it would offer a wider variety of resources including the beginning of social media. Advertising used to always be above the line advertising which basically means it wasn't targeted towards a particular group and goes off the basis that is enough people see it then some people are bound to be interested in it . Web 2.0 brought in below the line advertising where companies could strategically place their ads on social media or the web in order to have them more targeted towards the audience they are looking for. This in my opinion made advertising much easier since you car reach your target audience effectively. An example of below the line adverting through social media is sponsored snapchat filters. One of the most recent and most popular sponsored snapchat filters is a filter made for latest Marvel movie Venom. With 158 millio...

Venom- traditional methods of advertising

Venom- traditional methods of advertising Traditional methods of advertising are things such as print media, television, radio, and anything which can be considered as broadcasting at a specific time. Venom is largely advertised on print media. I have noticed, as I have been getting on with my day to day life, that there are advertisements about the movie from all angles, by different types of billboard advertisements. These include posters on the sides of buses; which promote the date the movie premiers and posters on telephone boxes which, again, also indicate the date the movie premiers. Venom is mostly advertised by using 'above the line' advertising. This is done in order to target mass audiences and inform as many people about the movie as possible. Another traditional method by which the movie is advertised is television. Using television as a method of advertising, is highly effective as this allows millions of people to view the advertisement. The movie is adv...

Venom Venom is a new Film that is a spin off from the Spiderman franchise. The lead actor is Tom Hardy who plays an ex reporter who gets morphed with an Alien to become a powerful force. The film is made by Sony in association with Marvel. Venom was first introduced to the superhero world in the original Spiderman trilogy on the 3rd film called Spiderman 3, having this follow on essentially makes venom more popular to loyal audiences who have been following the franchise since it was early days.  Venom was very hyped and advertised well. It was advertised on social media appealing to younger audiences who are easily influenced to watch films that look ‘cool’ they showed more action in the trailers that are shown on television to creat the appeal that would influence viewers to go and watch. It was shown on the sides of buses and on billboards.  Tom Hardy is a very popular actor especially among women for his appearance and looks he has not made a blockbuster film since ...

Digital Methods of Advertising for Venom

Image
Social Media Advertising for Venom Venom used social media in order to promote their movie which turned out to be a very successful addition to the Marvel franchise. Through the use of things like Snapchat filters, YouTube adverts and other sources of social media Sony was able to make Venom a popular hit before it was even released. Snapchat is now one of the largest social media platforms around reeling in up to 400 million users per day. This is a massive market to target and the way that they did this was through the use of a Snapchat filter. Snapchat filters are basically exactly what they sound like they are filters that you can use within the app to change the way you look. Recently Snapchat allowed the option where for a certain fee companies could have their own custom filter on the app which people would see and use and in turn spread the word about the movie.
